"Simple, clear purpose and principles give rise to complex and intelligent behaviour. Complex rules and regulations give rise to simple and stupid behaviour."
– Dee Hock, CEO Emeritus VISA International
In service organisations, complexity often exists on both sides of the service relationship:
- On the demand side; in the circumstances and requests of the customers/citizens/communities a service is for.
- On the supply side; in how a service is organised and managed to respond.
Despite this inherent complexity, it is always possible to identify clear points of leverage that help everyone to see through the fog and that draw focus onto what really matters.
Knowing how to uncover these points of leverage and how to design around them is the key to creating simple service designs that work.
These 1/2 day, 1 day and 3 day workshops are aimed at teams and partnerships, developing expertise in service design methods that make it easier to see through the fog, identify points of leverage and take practical action to make work work better.
