13:01:30 From hayley.soper : Afternoon everyone, I am Hayley Soper from Sport Wales. 13:03:15 From Sherry Weedall WCBC : Output is the action used to achieve the outcome 13:03:30 From susie.osborne : output is something on the journey to an outcome 13:03:34 From lauren.carter-davies : Outputs are typically numerical deliverable e.g. numnuber of participsnts or sessioons 13:03:35 From Rebecca Rothwell : Outcomes are measurable and often come quickly or even immediately, after an event 13:03:48 From Aileen Flynn : Output is the tangible thing that you do and the outcome is the benefit of the action 13:03:49 From lauren.carter-davies : Outcomes are much harder to measure 13:03:49 From Phil Pusey : output is more numerical, outcome is broader and wider, longer term 13:03:49 From maria/wrexham : Outcome if the difference made by the inputs 13:04:00 From Amy Harmsworth : Outputs = short time, defined measurable. Outcomes - long term, sustainable 13:04:01 From hayley.soper : Output works towards an output 13:04:06 From sue maughan : Outcomes less controllable 13:04:29 From Sam Spencer : Output= activity or activities Outcome = the difference those activities make 13:04:51 From Saskie / Dorset : Outcomes matter to citizens 13:06:05 From susie.osborne : On our world, outcomes require cross sector collaboration, outputs could be independent... 13:07:20 From Rebecca Rothwell : 'Outcome' often used when we mean 'impact' 13:22:08 From lauren.carter-davies : Do you know any funders/ commissioners who are working in this way really well? We'd love to learn from them. 13:23:18 From Jeremy Cox : @Lauren - good question - we do, and we’ll come to that in the Q&A 13:23:37 From julian : How can we select who we collaborate with through the procurement system, demonstrating fairness and transparency. 13:23:57 From Sam Spencer : @Lauren, some of the case studies here might be helpful: http://wordpress.collaboratei.com/wp-content/uploads/Exploring-the-New-World-Report_Case-Studies.pdf 13:24:33 From lauren.carter-davies : Thanks Sam and Jeremy 13:25:05 From Jeremy Cox : @Julian - love that question! Will cover that 13:31:07 From Andy @ Easier Inc. : https://www.humanlearning.systems 13:33:23 From maria/wrexham : Is there an opportunity to join the CoP please? 13:33:35 From Sam Spencer : I wonder if some of the problems with commissioning are a symptom of how our organisations are typically structured and managed. So my question is, might that be a good place to start? For example, in my council, various departments have a commissioner or commissioning team. Many of them don't ever talk to each other, let alone think about how we might commission collaboratively across the place. And that's before we even start thinking about collaborating with the other public sector organisations or funders in the area! 13:34:12 From Jeremy Cox : The CoP will have an open space just as Next Stage Radicals and human Learning Systems does, so you’ll be able to join when it goes live 13:34:54 From Phil Pusey : Got to go, but thanks for an interesting perspective and approach. 13:37:02 From maria/wrexham : Wales Government / Wales Co-operative centre https://wales.coop/ should shortly be publishing a report which looks at issues such as how can commission for social value (well-being & resilience of communities) and be compliant with public contract regulations 13:38:13 From Aileen Flynn : Apologies i have to go into another meeting. this was really great. thanks so much 13:38:24 From Jeremy Cox : Thanks Aileen 13:39:43 From lauren.carter-davies : Thank you all! 13:40:16 From ali : I have another meeting also, thank you 13:40:17 From Jeremy Cox : Many thanks to all of you who need to leave - lovely to have you join 13:42:13 From Mark Smith : start somewhere, go everywhere :) 13:43:01 From Rebecca Rothwell : Thanks so much - see you again! 13:43:12 From Annabel Ingram : Thank you, very interesting and useful going forward. 13:46:53 From Sam Spencer : Thank you Andy, Jeremy, and Mark. Great advice. 13:53:39 From maria/wrexham : Apols - have to join another meeting. Please circulate information about future events and opportunities to join the CoP (maria.bell@wlga.gov.uk). Very interesting, thank you. Maria 13:57:14 From Sam Spencer : I have to head off now. Thanks again Andy, Jeremy, and Mark :) 13:57:23 From Andy @ Easier Inc. : Thanks Sam 13:57:48 From susie.osborne : Many thanks, another useful session! I need to leave shortly. We (Sport Wales) are in the process transitioning to a new investment approach with our existing networks which supports the ways of working that have been discussed. We use strategic Intent rather than outcomes with partners. I think Lauren may have discussed with Andy alongside a new approach to 'accountability' (its more responsible practice in reality), but would be happy to follow up with you at some point? I would say its emergent practice at the moment, but resonates well with the slides that Andy presented... 13:58:18 From Andy @ Easier Inc. : Great to hear Susie… and yes, let’s catch up! 14:00:17 From Jeremy Cox : @Susie - interesting to hear ‘strategic intent’ - done lots of work with ex-military colleagues on Mission Command approaches where this is central, have you connected to those ideas? 14:02:07 From susie.osborne : No, it came from working with the cynefin framework and some work from Dave Snowden... but will follow up on that 14:02:22 From julian : thank you 14:02:28 From Mark Smith : thanks Andy, Jeremy - remember that physio in Stockport well :) 14:06:27 From Michael Moriarty : The military philosophy of mission command was created and brought to fruition by Von Moltke in the 19th century. He espoused the cause of independent action by subordinates as a matter of principle. Stephen Bungay’s book, The Art of Action, is well worth a read.
